Abigail has been playing and performing the harp for over nine years. She spent her first five years of study with Lois Edwards, an orchestra harpist and opera singer in the Washington DC area. Though herself a classically trained and concert harpist, Ms. Edwards encouraged Abigail to pursue her own interests in music and helped her to explore many genres of music including Celtic, Spanish, Medieval, and Popular/Folk. Currently Abigail personally arranges most of the songs she plays and performs to best suit her harp and also composes music in multiple genres.

Though the harp has remained her greatest passion, Abigail has a rich variety of interests and pursuits. She was recently awarded a bachelor’s degree in physics from the College of Creative Studies at UCSB. This program pushes students to engage more extensively in the creative process of research and enabled Abigail to engage in a variety of research interests on campus. Her research interests and experience ranged from collaborative work on low-energy solar cell design in a nano-technology laboratory to developing curriculum in the field of environmental science at the undergraduate level. She was able to pursue her passion for environmentalism in these technical fields as well as chairing her school’s central environmental organization for two years.
Abigail has been afforded the opportunity to travel extensively around the world. Three of her formative years were spent in Brazil and she has since spent time in every continent excluding Antarctica. Abigail’s travel experience has influenced her outlook and mindset in many ways and she incorporates much of this into her music. In the winter of 2009 she will again be leaving the country to pursue further education in music, culture, and sustainable development in Portugal under the sponsorship of a Rotary Club Ambassadorial Scholarship.
Abigail has performed at various restaurants, receptions, parties, and weddings in southern California. She has been the primary performer at a reception for the president of the World Bank, the Women’s Congressional Club, and preparatory election conventions for state delegates. She was also able to play and perform with many local bands and musicians and made several “guest appearances” at highly attended community and campus festivals and events.
Having completed her liberal-arts education and technical training in physics, Abigail moved to Williamsburg, Brooklyn to focus on her music as both a professional harpist and a musician working on independent projects. She loves gracing audiences in any setting with the magic and beauty of her enchanting instrument. Abigail’s diverse background makes her a colorful addition to any event.
